Local Processing & On-Device AI The core functionality of Crazy PDF—including document scanning, PDF editing, text recognition (OCR), and our advanced GenAI features (summarizing, translating, and proofreading)—is designed to run entirely on your device.
- Your Documents: Your PDFs and images are processed locally. We do not upload, read, or store your personal documents on any external servers.
Device Permissions To provide our features, the app requests the following permissions:
- Camera: Required for document scanning.
- Storage/Files: Required to open, save, and export PDFs.
- Biometrics (Local Auth): If you choose to lock the app, it uses your device’s native fingerprint/face ID secure enclave. We do not have access to your biometric data.
2. Third-Party Services & Analytics
While your documents remain strictly on your device, the app uses third-party services that collect non-identifiable, analytical data to help us improve performance, send push notifications, and fix bugs.
We use the following Google Firebase services:
- Firebase Analytics & Performance: To understand how the app is used (e.g., which features are most popular) and to monitor app speed.
- Firebase Crashlytics: To receive anonymous crash reports if the app closes unexpectedly, helping us fix bugs faster.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: To deliver important app updates or announcements.

Since your documents and AI interactions are processed locally, the security of your files is tied directly to your device. We recommend utilizing the app’s built-in Biometric App Lock feature, alongside standard device screen locks, to protect your sensitive files.
4. Children’s Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
